October 12,13,&14, 2007 - SUN CART will be conducting our annual mock Disaster Training Exercises. The event will run from 5pm on Friday October 12 to 1pm on Sunday October 14th. This event is open to all PA CARTs. Operations will be spread out throughout Snyder, Union, and Northumberland Counties. A Emergency Shelter will be based at Evangelical Community Hospital Utilizing SUN CARTs Mobile Animal Sheltering System, and Evangelical Hospital will provide a Inflatable Shelter System for Classroom and Shelter Use. The will be basic sleep facilities for any CART that wants to spend the night ( bring sleeping bags). This will be a 24/7 style event and operations will run all night long. Several Training Opportunities will be offered such as Pet First Aid Certification etc. More details to follow soon.

October 18 & 20, 2007 - CERT/VOAD Training.

October 20 & 21, 2007 Emergency Animal Sheltering (EAS): This two-day course (12+ hours) explores the methods for sheltering animals affected by disaster. The course includes key topics such as selecting a location and setting up an emergency animal shelter; implementation of the ICS; the needs of various animals; logistics; health and safety of the disaster responders and the animals in their care; and teamwork. The class includes table-top exercises so students can practice what they have learned throughout the class.
